Project Overview
Encompassing two Arlington city blocks, Virginia Square Towers is a 536-unit multi-family building which sits above 10,000 square feet of street-level commercial space. The building is bisected by a cobblestone road within a civic courtyard full of amenities including a pool, gardens, grilling area, and a lively zero-depth water fountain in the center of an informal performance amphitheater.

The design establishes a hierarchy of elements from base to top and is expressed as a series of towers chamfered at the corners to reduce the scale of the building from the street. Between the corner towers, vertical buttresses organize the building and are braced by balcony rail trusses. At the top of the buttresses are glass-enclosed units that subtly illuminate the sky. The detailing draws on a combination of simple masonry patterning, glazing proportions, and suspended trusses. An enhanced interior amenity program includes a community room, theater, game room, lounge areas, business center, and exercise room.
